AS Media Studies-Coursework Brief

As part of my AS Media Studies coursework I have been asked to create a music magazine front page cover, contents page and double page spread. All of the photography must be original and produced by me etc. I have created this blog to publish any planning it may involve.

I have also been asked to search for examples of front covers, content pages, and double page spreads to understand how to create an ideal structure and for inspiration.

I find that on the first magazine, the position in which the two artists are posing is very eye catching as it looks very much like a rivalry and highlights the similarities between the two artists. I was definitely curious as to why that pose was chosen and felt as if it would be an interesting read. Although, I do not find the writing on top of the two models bold enough and I would not use it.

The thing that attracts me to the second magazine is the large, bold font with the artists name on it, it allows you to be excited about the band being in the magazine. The fake tears down the page is very vintage also. I do not believe the three photos used to be very good though, they seem very amateur as if taken on a camera phone with no specific pose to them.

I like how playful the third cover is. It is very colourful and the blue sell lines allow the 'NME' masthead stand out. I do not like the way the man on the very right is barely visible.
